AFRICAN LEOPARD TORTOISE

LEOPARD TORTOISE

Leopard Tortoises are another kind of large tortoise that can be commonly seen as pets. They are originally from sub-Saharan Africa and have a lifespan of over 50 years.

HABITAT

Leopard tortoises come from a place with arid conditions and fluctuating temperatures. They are active in the early morning and before the sunset because that is when the temperature is neither too hot nor too cold. During the hottest part of the day, they like to seek shelter in huts or any kind of shade they can find.

FOOD

Leopards are herbivores. They eat grass, leaves, flowers, hay, and cacti. At the ranch we also feed our Leopards Mazuri pellets.

SIZE

Leopard Tortoises can reach an adult length of up to 22 inches and weigh between 30-40 pounds on average.
